Video & Slideshow - The Wild Boar

A tall man and a short man are walking through the forest. A wild boar comes along and charges those two men. The tall man finds safety by climbing a tree. Since the short man cannot reach the lowest branch, how will he manage to save his life?

The main point of this story is you should not judge others since we do not know what is really going on in the background of each person's life.

Six Bloom's Taxonomy questions are included at the end of the video and slideshow.

Conflict Resolution 101: How to have a more peaceful and cooperative classroom

How can you have a more peaceful and cooperative classroom? Check out these articles that should really help. Please note that free posters are available for you to download, print, and post for classroom use.

After reading this e-mail sent to me by a current teacher, I realized that it was time to post these article links again. Here’s a copy of her e-mail message:

“ I just finished reading your article on the 3 essential classroom rules and I wanted to thank you for sharing it. You've discovered a wonderful method for sharing the basic behavioral expectations needed to make the classroom environment efficient and pleasant. I especially like the way you head-off inane, but inevitable, student excuses about what "talking" means! Thank you, too, for sharing the posters -- you saved me time, which for a teacher equates to possible family fun time (i.e., not doing school stuff!).”

Deven Parekh Insight Venture Partners & Introducing Publicolor

Deven Parekh wears two very big hats. He is the Managing Director of Deven Parekh Insight Venture Partners. He is also the Chairman & Managing Director of Publicolor.org. Both companies are in located in New York, New York.

What is Deven Parekh Insight Venture Partners? It is company that was founded in 1995 by Jeff Horing and Jerry Murdock. It is a private equity and venture capital firm. This company’s main focus is “software and Internet-enabled businesses.” Deven Parekh came on board to this company as one of their Managing Directors in 2000. He graduated with a BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He is also a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute. Deven Parekh Insight Venture Partners is the third company he has worked for since graduation.

Besides Deven Parekh Insight Venture Partners, Deven Parekh is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Publicolor.org. Publicolor was incorporated in 1996. As I understand it, they are a conflict resolution company. They help young people at risk to become productive members of society by the use of color. As you can see from the picture, this company actually gets these kids involved in adding color the schools.

I wonder who came up with this idea? Perhaps it was somebody who was brainstorming how they could solve the problem of young people adding graffiti to public spaces. Perhaps this person thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if we could channel their energies into a more productive outlet of beautifying a school with their artistic ability instead?”

Publicolor gives these young people an outlet so they can get off the street. They even learn a marketable skill that could help them pay their way to college. They also can get tutoring and career counseling. They even can participate in painting apprenticeships.

Visit their website at www.publicolor.org when you get a chance. Take a tour of their impressive website. There are even some games that you can play.
